Teacher Training Program Objective:
The objective of our yearlong intensive program is to professionally train a small group of qualified and ambitious yungeleit who are looking to enter the field of Chinuch. Students going through the program will teach for two hours a day in one of the Crown Heights yeshivas and will be assigned a trained mentor who will guide and coach them throughout the year. Students will also receive practical instruction and attend workshops from some of the most influential leaders in Chinuch today. In addition, students will be required to complete comprehensive coursework assigned by the instructors. Upon graduation from the program, students will have mastered the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful full time teachers.
Student Teaching:
Students will be placed in one of the local yeshivas for a paid teaching position for one hour a day, five days a week, throughout the school -year. Each student teacher will be paired with a mentor trained by the NTC - JNTP (Jewish New Teacher Project), the highly acclaimed teacher-mentoring program.
Instruction and Workshops:
The program will feature 20 workshops focusing on the primary areas that concern first year teachers, including: curriculum design, classroom management, and classroom instruction methodology. The workshops will take place once a week.
Some of the Required Course Work will include:
Curriculum unit designed using various methods, including The Seven Elements, Differentiated Instruction and Understanding by Design.
Complete classroom management system.
Admission:
Applicants should:
Have at least a few months of teaching experience.
Possess a strong work ethic and a strong desire to progress in the world of chinuch.
