Data Driven Instuction

Data Driven Instruction emphasizes frequent testing and focused attention on what the children are actually learning allows educators to effectively and realistically pinpoint, assess and remedy weaknesses and reinforce success.

In an unprecedented level of teamwork and inter-school cooperation, MEF's program coordinators are currently collaborating to create across-the-board Judaic studies standards to be implemented in schools across the nation.

To date, MEF has created curriculum standards for 3 grades in Chumash, and begun working on first level Gemara. The Chumash and Chumash standards created incorporate core learning skills such as Blooms Taxonomy, compare & contrast and creativity. Our Data Driven Instruction Program is currently being implemented in ten schools nationwide.

MEF has formed a team of educators and leaders who are working to grow DDI curriculum standards to include grades 1- 8, in all core Judaic subjects and  developing a  meaningful year-end assessments and interim assessments every four - six weeks.

We are training participating schools in the best practices for:

  1. Creating meaningful interim assessments.
  2. Analyzing the assessment data.
  3. Creating an action plan to reteach areas of weakness.

This will help teachers improve instructional delivery and keep teachers and principals focused on the ultimate purpose of teaching: student learning.

Participating schools have adjusted their school calendars to allow for an interim assessment every four - six weeks, followed by a few days devoted to analysis of the assessment data and reteaching the areas found to be deficient.

Our goal is for 100% of students to succeed in the classroom; by teachers constantly tracking student learning this will become the new reality.
